fellow BABY

OUR STORY

'fellow human' the brand came to me mid-shivasana as I had been searching for an alternative yoga brand but could not find anything that I was drawn to both visually & socially. I was looking for a unisex fit, earthy-palettes, simple yet bold graphics & most importantly, affordable.  High quality, boutique-inspired pieces at a mid-range price. Clothing that would fall esthetically between the sporty, highly technical Lulu & the loose-fitting tie-dye harem style.  Designs that could easily transition from après yoga to the local brewery. A brand with a progressive social message and a little bit of an edge.

But wait, you sell baby clothing and I'm pretty sure babies don't do yoga? Correct! and I'm sure a few of you who are reading this are a little confused. The shift to infant-wear happened when my husband and I found out we were expecting back in September 2018!

Once pregnant, I had no choice but to put my hot-yoga practice on hold.  As we started to prepare for our daughter's arrival, we found ourselves having the same issues when searching for baby clothing. All the alternative & earth-toned palettes were reserved for high-end boutiques with equally as high price tags.

Where were the high quality, neutral, organic - yet affordable clothing options we wanted?

We decided to momentarily shift directions and launch the brand as infant-focused first.  To provide a mid-range alternative clothing option for parents and loved ones alike in search of neutral, versatile, heirloom quality outfits with a little edge 💀

With a new direction & product plan in place, a possible name for the company swirled in our minds. A name that carried a healthy social message, free of judgment and inclusivity for all.  While trying to distract myself in a shakey warrior-two, I found myself observing in awe the fellow yogis around me. A beautiful variety of gender, race, body-size & age. I, a 'fellow human' among them. All the 'same within', as we breathed and moved through our practice.  Our internal structure as the connective thread. The skull; a fitting symbol to represent us all.
